We met Simon and his wife, Britney on the route as well. So it was a good team effort. Martin had been out the night before (naughty boy) and so his pace was a little below par at first. He finally cleared his head though and kept up a good pace with me as we maintained a rearguard about 20minutes or so behind the others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/simkin.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/27072008007.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-134\" title=\"L2C 2008\" src=\"http:\/\/simkin.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/27072008007-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Simon, Ben and Martin at the rest stop, Hadham Ford(?)\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The temperature was in the high 20&#8217;s and we felt it all the way through. We started at around 08:30 and finally finished around 14:00ish. It was slow going (13mph average) as we pretty much had to stop and take on fluids at every refreshment point along the way.  I decided to try out the <a href=\"http:\/\/simkin.org\/wordpress\/?p=119\">Nokia Sportstracker<\/a>, knowing the battery would probably die along the way. The good news is that I captured <a href=\"http:\/\/sportstracker.nokia.com\/nts\/workoutdetail\/index.do?id=323414 \">the first 2 1\/2 hours of the ride<\/a><\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/simkin.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/l2c-profile.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-135\" title=\"l2c-profile\" src=\"http:\/\/simkin.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/l2c-profile-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/simkin.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/l2c-profile2.jpg\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-136\" title=\"l2c-profile2\" src=\"http:\/\/simkin.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/l2c-profile2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A good ride however.
