But this year, things are going to be different. Whilst the idea of cycling 50-odd miles with the hill-climb over Ditchling Beacon is appealing, I’ve decided this year to break tradition and actually spend Father’s Day with my children. It is only fair they get a chance to spoil me. I know what you are all saying and yes you are right of course it IS very self-sacrificing of me.

For those of you that wanted to sponsor me for a ride, have no fear for I have opted for no less than three other rides.

Sunday 13th May Thames Bridges Bike Ride (Stroke Association) 30-odd miles corssing every bridge over the Thames from Tower Bridge down to Kew. Should be slow due to the terrain and traffic but a lot of fun.

Saturday 14th July Essex Coast (Little Havens Hospice) 30 or 60miles. I said to Matt that there was a nice little 30 miler for us to do in July. After he signed-up I revealed that there is the option to do an additional 30miles on the way back as well. This ride will be a bit of a challenge as it is new terrain for us and likely to be well attended.

Sunday 22nd July London to Cambridge (Breakthrough Breast Cancer) 50miles. This is the good old “second” ride to the London to Brighton event. So it is a known course and one I hope to actually do it at a decent pace. A decent pace for me that is.

I don’t have the rider numbers yet and cannot thus set up any websites for getting money off of you lovely people. I’ll post up the links when I have them. I’ll also put up some banners on the home page to catch any passing browsers.

It had become something of a tradition that I ride the London to Brighton bike ride on Father’s Day every … More

[7
