So what I need is something that can take a DVD, squish it down and output a suitable movie file. The tool of choice is a bit of software called <a href=\"http:\/\/handbrake.m0k.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Handbrake <\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is basically a command-line video encoder with a simple GUI front-end for building the command. I&#8217;ve tried a few settings and got the following to work:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"postbody\">Encoder = MP4<br \/>\nAudio = AAC<br \/>\nWidth = 320<br \/>\nHeight = Blank (For 16:9 it will be about 150. For 4:3 it will be 240)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"postbody\"><br \/>\nAverage Bit Rate = 500\u00c2\u00a0 (For smaller files, 200)<br \/>\nFrame Rate = Auto<br \/>\nAudio Bit-rate 128 Sampling 44.1<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>For a full widescreen image, a height of 150 can look a bit wasteful of screen estate. Setting 320&#215;180 will fit better but crop &amp; squeeze the image slightly. A better option is to tick the<span class=\"postbody\"> Loose Anamorphic box if the film is widescreen and leave the height box empty.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>You can squeeze a DVD down to 300-750MB depending on how low you set the ABR(Quality). Which is pretty good if only you could get some more storage into the Nokia. How about the new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/SanDisk-Micro-SDHC-Adaptor-Reader\/dp\/B000VUPUOU\/ref=wl_it_dp\/202-5125945-5223820?ie=UTF8&amp;coliid=IEKV12SGL1ZZB&amp;colid=2X5XI8GQ1N24H&amp;tag=simkin-21\" target=\"_blank\">6GB microSD card<\/a> then ?<\/p>\n<p>Nice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I thought it was about time I got some movies onto my Nokia N95.
